Our Vineyards
Meticulous Site Selection & Precision Farming
At Alluvium Cellars, we strongly believe that great wine begins in the vineyard. We are fortunate to work with some of the finest fruit in Washington State, grown by dedicated vineyard teams who share our commitment to quality and precision. These partnerships are the foundation of everything we do, allowing us to consistently source exceptional fruit from some of Washington's most distinguished vineyards.
The selection of vineyard sites is one of our most crucial decisions. Our winemaker, Tyson Trautmann, carefully matches each varietal to specific vineyard blocks where they will best express their character. This attention to detail extends from soil composition and elevation to row orientation and exposure. We work closely with our vineyard partners throughout the growing season, ensuring that each decision in the vineyard aligns with our vision for the finished wine. Our portfolio now spans seven outstanding vineyards across Washington's most compelling AVAs, each chosen for its unique ability to produce fruit with distinctive character and complexity.
Coyote Canyon Vineyard
In the Horse Heaven Hills AVA, Coyote Canyon Vineyard delivers exceptional fruit for our Rhône-style program. The site's well-draining soils, composed of wind-blown loess and Missoula Flood sediments, create ideal conditions for Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne. Our Mourvèdre comes from the distinctive "Cross Block" near the vineyard's summit, where elevation and exposure develop the spicy, complex character essential to our single-varietal Allegory. These same conditions help craft our acclaimed Apricity white blend, which prominently features this vineyard's Viognier, Roussanne, and Marsanne.

Diamondback Ridge Vineyard
In the Rattlesnake Hills AVA, Diamondback Ridge Vineyard sits at an optimal elevation on a south-facing slope. The vineyard's broken basalt and silt loam soils, combined with multiple aspects offering both eastern and western exposures, allow precise varietal placement based on sunlight needs. This thoughtfully developed site's Grenache, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon contribute to several programs, including our Amar rosé and our flagship Apex Cabernet Sauvignon, which showcases the site's exceptional Clone 6 Cabernet.
Les Collines Vineyard
In the Walla Walla Valley AVA, Les Collines Vineyard rests in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, where gently sloped hillsides create excellent cold air drainage in three directions. The site's deep loess soils encourage extensive root development, while its elevation provides warmer nights and cooler days than the valley floor, creating one of the longest growing seasons in the Columbia Basin. These distinctive conditions yield Syrah with remarkable complexity, showcasing intense black and blue fruit profiles complemented by savory notes—characteristics that define our single-varietal Asterius.

French Creek Vineyard
In the Yakima Valley AVA, French Creek Vineyard's south-facing slopes and distinctive soil composition have produced exceptional fruit since 1981. The site features silt loam soils with sections of weathered basalt bedrock, while its position along a canyon edge ensures excellent air drainage. Our prized head-trained Grenache block here produces the concentrated fruit for our single-varietal Alyssum, while the vineyard's Cabernet Franc contributes to our distinguished Agerasia Bordeaux-style blend.
Rosebud Vineyard
In the Wahluke Slope AVA, Rosebud Vineyard stands as one of the region's pioneering sites, established in 1979. The consistently warm, dry conditions and precise irrigation control create ideal growing conditions in this uniquely arid climate. The vineyard contributes exceptional Cabernet Franc to our Arcane program, where the site's characteristics shine through in bright fruit notes and refined tannin structure, demonstrating the AVA's distinctive growing conditions.

Blackwood Canyon Vineyard
In the Red Mountain AVA, Blackwood Canyon Vineyard exemplifies the region's reputation for structured, age-worthy wines. The vineyard's southwest-facing slopes and distinctive calcium carbonate-rich soils create ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The unique terroir produces fruit with exceptional depth and complexity that will become the backbone of our future Apex and Agerasia programs, where we expect it to contribute outstanding structure and aging potential.
Stoneridge Vineyard
In the Royal Slope AVA, Stoneridge Vineyard rests on an alluvial fan gravel bed with well-draining sandy loam soils. Beneath lies a distinctive layer of caliche and basalt, creating a calcium and iron-rich environment that promotes deep root development. This unique terroir shows great promise for producing exceptional Syrah, and we anticipate it becoming the star of our Anthem GSM blend in future vintages.

Each of these vineyards represents a carefully chosen piece in our winemaking puzzle. Through these partnerships, we're able to craft wines that not only showcase the best of Washington State's diverse growing regions but also reflect our commitment to excellence in every bottle.
